Ogontz Glass & Mirror Co works out of 6800 Ogontz Avenue in West Oak Lane, a few blocks below Cheltenham Avenue and a short run from Stenton Avenue and Broad Street. It is a walk-in shop more than a booking system: most people turn up with the damage already done, and the person who quotes the job is the one who fits the glass.

North-west Philadelphia is hard on glass. Roosevelt Boulevard throws stones off trucks all day, the rough patches along Ogontz and Stenton shake a chip into a crack on the first cold morning, and street parking on the narrow blocks around Fern Rock and Cedarbrook is where most side windows get broken.
