Under two miles, which is about eight minutes on a normal morning. Cedarbrook sits between Stenton Avenue and the county line, and the shop is at 6800 Ogontz Avenue. Door, quarter and back glass is $200 to $500 fitted and most of it is same day. Chip fills are $60 to $130 in around half an hour, windshields $250 to $450 fitted. Open 9 to 5 Monday to Saturday. Call 215-608-1108.

Cedarbrook parks differently from the rows further down the hill. Alongside the twins with their driveways there are apartment blocks and garden courts up near Stenton and Cheltenham, and those come with open lots that nobody watches after dark. That is where a large share of the side-glass work here starts: a row of cars in an unattended lot, no through traffic, and a window that takes under a minute to go. People find out in the morning when they come down for work and see the pebbles of tempered glass in the parking space.
The ground itself is the other factor. This corner of the city has genuine slope to it, and the streets running off Ivy Hill Road and down toward the creek line carry water to the same low points every time it rains. In winter those are the bits that glaze over, get salted, then get scraped by the plough, and the grit that comes off them ends up airborne behind every car. It is also a neighbourhood with a lot of short trips, out to Cheltenham Avenue and back, which means chips get collected and then ignored because nothing feels urgent at twenty-five miles an hour. Ring 215-608-1108 while it is still a chip.
Stenton Avenue forms the south-western edge and Cheltenham Avenue closes the top at the county line, with Ivy Hill Road running back into the higher, greener ground toward the park side. Vernon Road and the streets off it drop away noticeably, so cambers here are real rather than nominal and the kerbs are high. Stenton is the working road: buses, delivery trucks and anyone cutting between Germantown and Montgomery County, on a surface that is repeatedly trenched and patched. Cheltenham Avenue along the top is four lanes of township and city traffic with retail lots hanging off both sides, including the big plaza just over the line. In between, the housing is a mix of stone twins with driveways and low apartment courts with shared parking.
“While driving on Lincoln drive something hit my driver window and my entire window broke into tiny pieces 😩 scariest thing ever! I went to this glass and mirror repair shop around 3;30-4pm. Told the owner my story. He got right on the phone to order my glass and told me he will call me tomorrow morning so I could drop my car off. Keeping his word , He called me 1st thing in the morning to drop my car off and told me it would be ready within the next hour. He called me an hour later to pick up my car! My window looks great as if nothing ever happened! Super fast and cheap! I have a 2015 kia Optima $190 to fix. I am very happy and will be sending folks his way! Black owed as well!!”
Ranked by how often we see it: first, lot break-ins. Shared and apartment parking without lighting or a gate is where most Cedarbrook door glass goes, and it goes at night with nobody hearing it. Second, grit off Stenton Avenue and Cheltenham Avenue, both of which carry heavy vehicles over patched surfaces and both of which sit at the top of the slope, so anything loose ends up rolling into traffic. Third, the hill and the winter. Water runs the same routes down these streets, freezes at the bottom, gets salted and ploughed, and the resulting loose stone travels. Fourth, the mature trees on the Ivy Hill side, which put branches down on cars parked along the kerb in any real storm.
Cheltenham Avenue is the direct route: take it east from the Stenton Avenue end to Ogontz Avenue, turn down Ogontz, and run about a mile to 68th Avenue. If you are further down toward Vernon Road, cut across on 72nd or Washington Lane instead and pick up Ogontz that way. From the Ivy Hill side, drop onto Stenton Avenue first and then take any of the numbered avenues east. It is under two miles from most of Cedarbrook and the whole thing is surface streets, so there is no highway to sit on. Say roughly when you are arriving and we will be expecting the car.
Ogontz Glass & Mirror Co works across West Oak Lane and the surrounding towns — pick your neighborhood:
For most cars, the same day. Door glass for common models comes from local suppliers within hours, so a call at nine often means a car you can drive by the afternoon. Cost is $200 to $500 fitted depending on the vehicle and whether the glass is heated or laminated. Bring it in as it is: do not vacuum the inside first, because the fragments in the door skin and the window channel have to come out from inside the door anyway, and that is included.
That is your call and it depends on your deductible. Plenty of people around here pay cash for a $60 to $130 chip fill or a $200 to $500 side window rather than putting a claim on the policy for something the deductible would swallow anyway. What we can do is give you the exact figure up front so you can make that comparison before anything starts. What we will not do is quote one number and hand you a bigger one at the end.
For a lot of Cedarbrook, yes. Mobile work suits a driveway or a quiet corner of a parking lot where the van can get alongside the car with room to open a door fully. What it does not suit is a tight covered lot, heavy rain, or a job that needs the glass held at temperature. Ring 215-608-1108, describe where the car is parked, and you will get told honestly whether it is a van job or a ten-minute drive.
